Founded in 2006 by a group of African-American women with the objective of promoting the well-being of African-American women and their families, the mission of The Institute of Wonderful Women Working for Empowerment is “the economic empowerment of low-income and minority women.” This is the third year IWWWE, in partnership with PACF, awarded grants and mentoring to women in Mercer County. In addition to providing monetary grants, IWWWE focuses on building solid economic family foundations in our community and provides opportunities for participation in skill-building workshops on resume preparation and interview techniques, technology competence and family health and nutrition. Our mentoring program offers emotional, career and academic support to the network of women awarded grants, helping to ensure the students complete their health career-training program and are ready for employment. “Our goal”, says Dr. Frederick is to lighten the load, just a little, for those women who are sincere about careers in healthcare but a struggling to make ends meet.”

Partners for the work of the IWWWE, in addition to the Princeton Area Community         Foundation, include Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies, the Bunbury Company, Inc. of Hopewell, NJ, Bristol Myers Squibb and the McAlpin Foundation of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, all working together building creative programs in the greater Trenton area to offer support to women who are struggling to go to school full or part-time, meet the needs of their families, work and to gain economic empowerment for themselves and their families.
