Question by brian l: What do employers think of online MBA degrees?
I am on active duty in the Navy and the only way that I can complete my MBA is through an online course. In general, do employers look more favorably on traditional degrees vice online programs?

Best answer:

Answer by A Voice Crying in the Wilderness
Honestly, an online MBA is virtually worthless. Its just the nature of the mba program. With it being online, you lose the networking aspect which is arguably the most important part of an MBA. Top MBA programs look favorably on people who are coming out of the military, so after you finish your Navy duty if you have decent GMAT scores you should be able to get into a good program. Employers would prefer it that way.

Good Luck, whatever you decide to do.

What do you think? Answer below!

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 25, 2012

Manhattan GMAT, considered the gold standard in Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) preparation, has announced the release of 10 new Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides for GMAT students looking to score in the top percentiles.

Manhattan GMAT’s ten new strategy guides are the first books on the market to be aligned with the 13th Edition GMAC Official Guide. Fully updated and revised to address recent changes to the GMAT, the new strategy guides were designed with a content-based approach and offer a distinctly competitive edge for students.

“The 10 Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides included in this set are consistently reviewed by students as offering the opportunity for dramatic score improvement,” said Eric Caballero, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for Manhattan Prep, the nation’s largest GMAT-exclusive test prep company.

Each book delves deeply into a single area of the exam, providing detailed and specialized instruction. When used together, these guides produce a substantial learning impact, helping students develop all the knowledge, skills, and strategic thinking necessary for success on the GMAT. Students will benefit considerably from high-level resources such as:

Six full-length, computer-adaptive practice exams
Over 200 additional free practice questions
A brand new guide designed to address the new 2012 Integrated Reasoning section
Topical sets of Official Guide practice questions and detailed answer explanations

In the last decade, Manhattan GMAT has grown from a single, dedicated tutor to a major test prep company with locations across the US and internationally. “Our philosophy is simple: We aim to help students achieve their goals by providing the best curriculum and the highest-quality instructors in the industry,” said Caballero.

“Manhattan GMAT hires fewer than one in 10 qualified applicants for its teaching positions, ensuring every instructor has years of experience and a 99th percentile score. Students can trust our GMAT prep books are developed by the very best,” Caballero added.

The Manhattan GMAT dedicated team specializes in the GMAT. Its time, energy, and resources are spent developing strategies for the GMAT’s unique content rather than for the generic standardized exam. This targeted focus ensures that Manhattan GMAT offers the most current and effective GMAT test prep course available.

The new GMAT Strategy Guides are available for $ 240.00 for the 10-book series at most major bookstores and college bookstores, as well as amazon.com.

Students seeking the most comprehensive information about the taking the GMAT exam should visit the Manhattan GMAT website, http://www.manhattangmat.com. “Our website and blog are essential resources for students thinking about taking the GMAT or currently studying for the GMAT exam,” said Caballero.

Question by : Managers: Between 2 equally qualified people, would you hire the one who earned their MBA online or in person?
I really want to hear from people who have experience hiring. If you had to choose between two applicants who are 100% equally qualified and have all the same experience and personality traits to bring to the position but have just one difference–one earned their MBA online and the other in person–which would you choose? Assume that the online MBA was earned from a highly reputable online program and the MBA earned in person was earned from a typical public university program. Please explain your answer.

Best answer:

Answer by Alyssa Staheli
Honestly, it depends on what the job is for. If it’s a job that requires a lot of computer time, then I’d pick the online school applicant. However, if it’s for a job that requires lots of face-to-face interaction with clients or customers, then I’d pick the guy who got his degree in person. If the job requires a little of both, I’d still pick the in-person guy; getting your degree on campus still requires computer skills.

What do you think? Answer below!
